The October Specials! Having done a special series for Halloween last year, the editors decided to keep up
the idea -- maybe even make it a tradition!

Vol 5 No 4: was inspired by M. John Harrison's Kefahuchi Tract novels, as well as the Mid Century pulp styles.

The old social hall really is an old social hall in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh that is undergoing renovation. Fortunately, no one is tearing it down at this time, though the renovation is private and could take some time.
The "big house" is actually the Wabash County Sheriff's Jail, a building promoted by Indiana Landmarks.
The dismal background of the Underworld is another view derived from Badlands National Park.
Vol 5 No 8: takes a little bit of inspiration from Stephen King's The Dark Tower series here; I imagine Case's characters seeing the name "North Central Positronics," wondering who in Hell they are, and moving on, 'cause they've got their own business to deal with.
