Sergeant's Adventures
A Time Lord is given a punishment detail, only to find that it brings her more satisfaction than simply watching the universe from Gallifrey.
Doctor Who, TARDIS, and all other related references and what-not are of course copyright the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), and in no way my own, nor am I attempting to take any control or anything like that. It's just a bit of a lark. No, that's not David Tennant in the photograph.
Call it my version of "fan fiction," but after doing that single image of Rachel "playing doctor" the idea of furthering the notion of a woman as Time Lord, or a Time Lady if you prefer, never really left. This initial foray is the result, and there may be more.
After doing the single image (whenever that was) of "playing Doctor," the idea of continuing the idea has never really been left off. The idea reached a fruition with these three book covers depicting a parallel story to that of the Doctor's. It's quite likely that there will be more.
As for the name of the character, I was thinking of titles that could also be used in personal address without sounding silly. A couple of years ago, someone put up on the web a panel entitled "You are now a Time Lord" with instructions for arriving at name, sonic device and catch phrase. The name was to be based on the job one of your parents held. This could lead to "Receptionist," "Cab Driver," "Doctor," "Nurse," or what-have-you. But to seriously address someone in a line of dialogue like "Wait for me Receptionist!" just doesn't sound quite right, y'know? I did consider doing a series where the Doctor regenerates as a woman, but I'll let the BBC deal with that question!
As to the time elapsed between working on these images, I'm reminded of some dialogue in the latest Terminator movie (maybe the best part of the movie): "What do we want?" "Time travel!" "When do we want it?" "That's irrelevant!" Or something like that. If I had a time machine I'd go back and write it down.
