Mr. Giffels, life-long resident of Akron (rhymes with Dacron), has here a wonderful look at the Middle America that was based on medium to heavy industry, and now stretches and struggles to succeed in the "Information Age." While I'm only transplanted to the Rust Belt, reading these "dispatches" (a favorite term of mine) I recognize and sympathize, even empathize, with much of what Mr. Giffels relates of his own life, and the lives of those around him.
