From scene shop loading dock to strip mall parking lot to movie poster:
BEHIND A POSTER
Elements of a Book Cover came first; figured if I'd "exploded" a book cover, why not do a poster, too? I also like the difference between the source photo of the figure in a warehouse doorway as compared to the final image.
Where possible, I like to photograph the "real thing," so the sand, stones and rocks were purchased or found, and arranged as seen the the source photo above left. The sky was photographed above a Jersey strip mall, and the cut stone wall is part of a display in the Metropolitan Mueseum of Art (NYC). The choice to pose this on a loading dock was for the express purpose of setting the camera at a level that is ever so slightly below the plane where the figure stands. The camera really is an antique Kodak, purchased for this project.
This was the source for the stone in the poster; I did some
amending here 'n' there to the jointing so that the blocks
did what I needed them to.
Jersey sky 'n' clouds: who knew they could look South American?
I'm sure if the international retail food emporiums got their chance
they would put a store at Tiahuanaco! Archaeologists need to eat,
right?
